Welcome to the new website of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation!

The guiding principle behind the development of the new-look website has been the presentation of content in a clear, concise and visibly attractive format.  Our goal is for every user - physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, data managers, quality managers, corporate sponsors, patients and carers, the media and the general public - to have intuitive access to the wealth of information that the EBMT website holds.

We are convinced that this new website will facilitate communication, information sharing and collaboration between the EBMT and its 3612 members and all others that wish to learn more about the EBMT and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).

How the web site is organised?

The web site is organised by themes. Some activities can cover more than one theme and so can appear in different areas of the site. The themes are as follows:

The Research section provides information on the EBMT’s scientific output. Our scientific activities are largely coordinated through the eleven Working Parties. HSCT nurses also conduct research on topics based on clinical practice and formulate their own research agenda. An easily searchable list of EBMT retrospective studies, non-interventional prospective studies and clinical trials and publications is available.

The Education section details our educational events and materials. It details diverse initiatives ranging from training courses, educational meetings and sessions to the periodical publication of the EBMT Handbook on HSCT. The educational offerings of the organisation are clearly categorised and easily accessible with something for everyone.

In the Quality Management section, information is available on the FACT-JACIE standards for cellular therapy and the JACIE accreditation process.

The Data Management section provides a peek into the engine room of the organisation. The EBMT Registry is one of the keys to the success of the EBMT. It currently holds data on almost 380,000 transplants. This data forms the basis of the majority of the retrospective analyses under development by the working parties. A registry of such magnitude has been possible through the firm commitment of the EBMT member centres that both submit transplant data to the central registry and enroll patients in the studies and clinical trials. This section of the website also offers a guide to successfully entering and retrieving data.

A Members and Sponsors section provides information to both current collaborators and those that may wish to align themselves with the EBMT in the future. The organisation is very grateful for the support it receives and highly values the contributions of both members and corporate patrons.

The EBMT Annual Meeting also has a dedicated section of the website. This event represents a major forum that gathers stakeholders eager to share their knowledge and the latest advances in the field of HSCT. The next edition of the Congress will take place from the 1st – 4th April 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Last but not least, a comprehensive calendar of news and events is also prominent on our homepage, allowing members to note forthcoming meetings, events and deadlines.

In signing off, I would like to express my appreciation to the teams that have worked hard to successfully launch this website. We hope that you will enjoy using it and look forward to your feedback.

Yours sincerely,

Alejandro Madrigal

EBMT President
