Education at the EBMT Annual Meeting

Within the schedule of the Annual Meeting both educational days and a range of educational sessions are programmed on specific themes for differing audiences.

The EBMT Patient and Family Day has kicked off the educational output for the last five years and is now an established part of proceedings. Taking place on the Saturday immediately preceding the EBMT Annual Meeting it offers informative and participative sessions for patients and their families to gain insight into BMT and patient treatment and support networks.

The Sunday traditionally brings the turn of the EBMT Nurses Group and the very well- attended Nurses Pre-Meeting Study Day with both plenary and parallel standard and advanced sessions on relevant developments and techniques for BMT nursing. A half-day Statistical Course on survival analysis for Data Managers also takes place on the Sunday morning.

Once the Annual Meeting is underway, the programme for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday includes specific educational sessions and workshops for physicians, nurses, data managers, and quality managers.

Physicians’ educational session topics are chosen to give a broad overview of current standard treatments and trends in stem cell transplantation whilst workshop sessions include discussion of technical procedures and clinical management issues, allowing the opportunity for questions and answers.

The EBMT attempts to catalogue and provide access to as many of the speaker presentations as possible pertaining to the educational output of the Annual Meeting. Relevant presentations are available for download and viewing in the Resources section.
